Use Eyelets!
Place the hole setter right where you want the eyelet to go and tap the top with your hammer. The hole setter is the tool with the opening at the one end of it. It only takes a few taps to make the hole.
Once you have a hole, feed the eyelet through the paper and turn it over, OR place the eyelet upside down on the table and then put your project over the eyelet. Much easier this way.
Place the setter, the tool with the smooth end, over the opening of the eyelet and tap it with the hammer until the ends bend.
Use Brads!
Mark the spot you want to place the brad lightly with a pencil. Using a paper piercer, place your project on a self-healing matte (or piece of cardboard!). Pierce the mark you made in your paper. Insert the brad in the hole. Turn over your paper and bend the prongs of the brad flat - one in each direction. You can leave them as is or secure them further with tape or glued cardstock.
Use Snaps!
Snaps are just like eyelets. Follow the instructions above. Never hammer (flatten) your eyelet/snap from the front. This will remove the paint or damage the eyelet/snap.
Use Fiber!
Draw a thin line of glue where you want the fiber to be. Let it dry for a minute (so it is tacky) and lay the fiber along your glue line (you can use a toothpick to push it into place)
Sew the fibers onto your card - first punch holes where you are going to "sew" using a large needle, then thread the needle with your desired fibers and thread it through. If the fibers won't go thru the eye of the needle, you can use a needle threader to get the fibers thru by pushing the needle threader thru the holes first, then threading it with the fiber. This method takes a bit longer since you can only do one hole at a time, but it works great with the fibers that won't fit thru the eye of a needle.
Put eyelets on your creation and then thread the fibers thru the eyelets.
Wrap fiber around the fold of your card as an accent. Tie off and add beads if you like or just let the ends hang freely, or fray the ends - depending on the fiber you use.
Use fibers as an accent to tag art. Tie a slip knot a loop of fibers through the hole in the top of the tag. Add beads as embellishments.
Use fibers to "hang" tags or pictures in your scrapbook albums.
Use fibers to frame a stamped & layered image by wrapping the fibers around the edges/corners.
Use your hole punch to make two holes at an angle in a corner, tie fiber in a knot or a bow to accent your page.
Use Mesh!
Flexible & pliable, mesh is easy to trim to any shape or size. You can even run it through any die-cut machine!
Layer mesh under photos or die-cuts and trim to get a custom background for your treasures.
You'll be amazed at the different colors and moods you can create.
Make a shaker box!
Cut 2 pieces of cardstock exactly the same size and shape and 1 piece of smaller acetate. One piece of cardstock will be your background of your box. With the second piece, cut out the center (kind of like a picture frame). This will be the window or "see through" part to your box.
Line the edges of the background paper with double sided foam tape. This makes a container for your shakeables. Fill your punchies, beads or whatever filler you have chosen inside, being careful not to get your fillers stuck to the tape.
Remove the backing of the foam tape and then secure the acetate to the top. Then glue the window piece of cardstock on top of the plastic.
Get creative! Use a printed paper for the back or top of the shaker. Use different shapes! Apple, hearts, leaves, use your imagination!
Make paper piecing!
Paper Piecing is Paper Art, you create an image of something by cutting out pieces of a pattern and putting or “piecing” them back together using your choice of colors and patterns of paper or cardstock to form the desired object.
Paper Piecing is similar to quilting or putting together a puzzle. Once you have a pattern you want to use, there are a few ways you can use it. You can cut out the individual pieces of the pattern and trace around them onto your paper. Or, you can use your Light Box (or window, if you don't have a light box) to trace around the original pattern, then cut out the pieces. Don't forget the easiest ways to paper piece! Punches or Die cuts! From the smallest punch to pre-cut die cuts, you can build your own patterns to use. The best way to learn paper piecing is to Try It!
Use Slide Mounts

Wrap wire around the edges, attach stickers, adhere glitter or just make a simple shaker. Slide are fun and easy embellishment to use in your scrap pages. In the example Jeni has created, she wrapped wire around the edges, attached a heart charm with more wire, used stickers on the front and paper tearing on the background.
